Baby Blog!

I haven't updated this blog in a LONNGGG time. Because our little baby smith is coming and I have started a blog for the baby/pregnancy just by itself. But since it documents all our stuff since getting preggers with the nugget I am just doing that one for now. Check It out.

Getting ready

Remember how I said I love fall? Yes well since it is September, and that is a fall month, as far as I am concerned.... IT IS TIME TO DECORATE!!!! I planned on decorating for fall but realized quickly that most of my "fall" décor is actually Halloween décor. WITCH (see that <<) is even better!!

Here are some before pics. I decorate in lime green, white and teal for summer.

It's definitely a work in progress. The amount of décor I had that filled my apartment doesn't make a drop in the bucket for our big house. But oh well. the small amount makes me happy. The house smells of spiced cider and pumpkin scents from the candles I have put out. Now the weather just needs to cool down....

In other news we have been busy this week. I have been working on etsy orders and made a "guest book" box for my friend Shannon's bridal shower to have at her wedding. We had one at ours and it has been awesome. It is filled with cards that have places for the guest's name, address, email and phone number and on the back has a place for "a special note for the newlyweds".
I painted the box red to match her wedding colors and added a brown ribbon and white burlap flower.
Here is the box open and the cards and dividers inside.

Here are pictures from Shannon's shower. It was so romantic looking with an AMAZING cake and yummy Mexican food.

Royals Game

Soo.....I hate to admit this but Taylor and I made it to August 25th without going to a single Royal's game! I feel terrible for Taylor, makes me feel like a bad wife because he LOVES to go. We have been busy, went on vacation, had family in town and a bunch of other stuff not to mention working full time. It wasn't even hot which is my usual excuse, this summer has really been so mild and we just haven't been. So I am sure Taylor was shocked when I suggested going with all my girlfriends from college. He of course was happy to go but I am sure he was a little annoyed when I announced I wanted to go because they were lol. Anyshways...

We went! My friend Audra's birthday was the next night and she wanted to celebrate so we met Audra, Ali, Emily and Kylie out at the stadium and tailgated a little bit and then went into the game and hung out. It was HOT. The hottest day of the summer so far which is annoying. But the breeze and shade in the stadium made it totally bearable and I got my traditional soft pretzel with cheese (which was actually a let down this time).

Taylor and Ali, I LOVE this picture.

After the game we went home, changed and decided to go out to celebrate Audra's birthday down at the plaza. It was a blast!
me and Kylie
Kylie and her sweaty "boyfriend" with his unbuttoned shirt that just barged his way into our table. yikes!

Kylie has no shame and just was snapping pics of interesting people all night, like this little treat.

I love my friends. We had a blast. Thank you girls for such a great night!!

Fall is coming!!!!

Oh I just can't help myself. I know it's only August but the good new is, it is THE END OF AUGUST! and this means that September is only a few days away and September means I get to put up my Halloween Décor. I am Ecstatic! Fall is the best and here is my list of why.
  • The weather cools down
  • which means cute fall clothes like
    • boots
    • skinny jeans in boots
    • sweaters
    • leggings
    • long sleeve shirts and cute jeans
    • hoodies
  • Football!
  • tailgaiting and cooking out
  • HALLOWEEN
  • Halloween movies
  • Halloween decorations in my new house
  • candy
  • trick or treaters in our new neighborhood. We will have TONS this year I am sure.
  • crafternoons
  • our annual trip to the cider mill
    • cider donuts
    • hot cider
    • caramel apples
    • pumpkin picking
    • kettle corn
    • crafts
  • carving pumpkins
  • snuggling up in blankets on the couch
  • using our fireplace
  • Starbucks pumpkin spice latte and caramel apple cider
  • the excuse to make yummy fall meals like Chili and pot roast
  • the leaves changing colors
I could go on and on....but I won't. I will do a post on all of my fall décor once I start putting it up. For now, I am counting down the seconds.

City market and the west bottoms

Saturday my mom and sister and I all went to the city market down town and then to the west bottoms antique district to look for some dining room chairs.
We started with the market and I brought $20 and got all of these items
  • 2 large cucumbers
  • 5 banana peppers
  • 3 red bell peppers
  • 3 ears of sweet corn on the cob
  • 1 fresh onion
  • 1 large container of strawberries
  • 1 big bag of okra
  • 3 small amish breads (pumpkin, carrot, and banana)

Pretty good for amazingly fresh produce!!

Sitting outside "Bloom" bakery for a snack.
Erika enjoying her warm ham and cheese croissant. mmmm

Here are my new chairs. They are hideous now but they will be sanded down and repainted/stained and the covers changed. The chairs are antique but very sturdy and decent size and they look awesome with our table. It's all about being able to visualize.

Here they are around my table.

In black and white you can kinda see how they will look without being obnoxious colors.

After the market I was jonesin' for a ham and cheese croissant so I made my own. Delish!!

A garden party

Remember how I said awhile back that my grandmother's house is my favorite place in the world? Well here are some pictures of why!
 Butter yellow dream house!
The back door and tea house.

Jeremy the cat on the english garden wall.
The English garden wall from inside the swimming pool garden.
rusted iron window in the wall
 Jeremy the cat
The swimming pool garden and back field. Everywhere that is rock was once a swimming pool that has since been filled in.
English garden olive oil jar from italy.
One of my favorite views in the whole place.

One of my favorite flowers from when I was a little girl.

My tree swing from when I was little.
One of the lily pools, there used to be a white whicker gazebo above the furniture a long time ago.

Glimpse of the garden party in the front yard.
The porch and some hors d'oeuvres

The big lily pool in the front yard.

This flower bloomed while we were eating dinner!

we stayed until the sunset and the candles and lightening bugs were the only things glowing in the dark summer night. What an unreal place.
