NEW BATHROOM and a crafternoon or two

So alot of our stuff in our house is red and chocolate brown which is awesome and rich and beautiful in the fall and winter but for spring my apartment needed a facelift...BAD

I tried to put all of my red stuff away and add some fun springy colors to my little house to brighten up the room. Whilst I was doing this to my living room I realized our "guest bathroom" or the one off the living room that everyone uses and that Taylor uses had a royal blue shower curtain and red and brown towels, the plan was to get a new shower curtain and use Taylor's old one in the mean time until I found one in those colors I liked...it never happened. So I decided to keep the blue one. I was pinteresting the other day and kept seeing peacock themed stuff pop up. For those of you who don't know I am obsessed with peacocks, and probably because my Grandmother Jane's house had 12 peacocks roaming her 9 acres of gardens for my whole childhood. We used to get baskets and walk through the gardens to collect the eggs and move them to the barns.

Anyshways I decided to take the red out of the living room and add turquoise and lime green to my chocolate brown. So I took the greens and blues and ran with it. Conveniently I had a royal blue shower curtain and brown towels. I put the red ones away and started collecting towels, candles and such to go with my theme for the bathroom. I needed something peacock for the room to tie it together so I found a cool pic on pinterest and painted it. (ignore the paintbrushes and cup and soap on the counter)

Stole the brown candlesticks with turquoise candles out of my living room, noone will ever know they were missing and put them on the counter. I already had the brown soap dispenser. I needed something above the toilet though....
I went on a trip to slobby lobby...(Hobby Lobby) and found this mirror thrown on a shelf in the clearance section. It had a huge crack all the way across the center and was originally $119.99 on sale for $12.99! I bought it because I have been on a chalkboard kick lately and decided to turn it into a chalkboard for the bathroom.

I was going to leave the goldish frame but add a little more silver to it at first but decided not to. I originally used foil to cover the glass and was going to paint the frame but took it off after the silver looked terrible and painted it all with chalkboard spray paint. (the looking glass paint was for the glass jars below that I made into mercury glass but thats another post)

I decided to paint it a turquoise color to match my towels and candles to match the peacock painting. I had to go back and add another coat of paint on chalkboard paint bc the spray kind isn't gritty enough to pick up the chalk.
My husband wasn't thrilled about the initial makeover but he LOVES the chalkboard now and writes hilarious things.... I was annoyed at first, I wanted it to write cute quotes or inspiring things.....he decided it was for humor instead.

Sorry these pics are from my Iphone

Happy crafting!
