I got some form of the stomach flu and/or food poisoning on saturday morning and was sick all weekend, not a good time let me tell ya. But in the process of feeling like I got hit by a bus, I got none of my projects done that I needed to. We are still getting settled into our house, I thought I had about everything done when christmas rolled around because I had amazing white pine garland on my mantle, and all down my bannister and a christmas tree to fill my empty dining room and all my christmas decor to fill the empty spaces on walls and such. After I took all of that down, my house looked like a blank canvas again. So I have the itch to get things finished looking again.
I had to go through all our boxes of storage stuff again and try to find valentines decor or other nice decorative things to fill in the empty spaces. I suppose since I am a holiday freak I will encounter this problem for each holiday/ season the first year or two.....
In the process my mom came over and helped me put up a "gallery wall" of picture frames in our hallway upstairs, problem is, they are filled with old pictures from my college apartment of me and friends partying and/or our wedding. I want pictures of me and Taylor now, at our wedding and when we were little. I also want pictures of my sister, our parents, our grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles and friends. All the people we love. Now the task is to find all of those pictures. HA! This will be interesting. I have to go to my mom's and go through her stash and Taylor's baby book. After that I have to take them all, scan them, and make prints in the sizes I need to fit the frames I have. LONG PROJECT.
I also have to redecorate our mantle, it had gorgeous garland and candles and christmas decor on it, without the garland it looks naked and it drives me nuts.
The other good news thing is that by tommorrow afternoon we will have our custom made dining room table!!! It will seat 8 and is a harvest style, sturdy wooden table. When I told the guy what style I wanted, I told him I wanted it to look like the table Jesus had the last supper on. I am so pumped and can not wait to see it!!! But this means I have to find chairs....
Why am I in such a rush to get all of this done?Well, I am hosting "practice council" at my house next wednesday. This is our monthly meeting for work that we use to talk about new standards of practice, equipment, unit updates, concerns and questions ect. Each month someone hosts it at their house, the unit pays for catered dinner and everyone is invited to come get updated and participate. This will be the first time alot of people have seen my house and they all know it's new so they'll want the full house tour. Which is great! But this means I want all projects to be finished and the house to look settled again. COME BACK CHRISTMAS!!! I NEED YOUR DECOR AS FILLER!
Don't get me wrong I love having projects to do, especially when they require my craftiness! This is fun for me, but the deadline thing puts a little pressure on it, not as much fun. Oh well, keep calm and decorate on.
