It's so funny how one day can be so awesome and the next can be kinda crappy and I'm not talking about the weather folks (although that happens alot too, especially in kansas). We all know I was raised to see the positive and be optimistic and find the good in all things, but today that has been really hard for me. I am being a debbie downer, I just wanna cry. It's just one of those days. I did manage to take the beast out for a long walk around the neighborhood today. It was interesting because I've never taken her on a walk before. She was so entertained by everything there was to see, new houses, new cars, new smells, new yards, a bunch of burly construction men and their trucks and equipment, streams of melting snow running down the streets, and birds! She has only seen a few birds up close because we have tiny trees and they don't go in our backyard much. She zig-zags all over the place and the sidewalks are covered in feet of snow still so we walked in the street hugging the curbs, or at least I hugged the curbs while she zigged and zagged. I must admit the fresh air and sunshine and cool breeze and change of scenery did me good. Did for her too, she is out cold on the floor now. It was a great way to cheer up my day and swing my mood back in the other direction. I hope she gets better on the leash so she can be my motivation to run...."Oh, Cora... do you need a walk/run? Ok girl, let's go!" and speaking of swinging moods and pregnant women.... We had a very happy pregnant friend of mine in my home to celebrate her and her new babe.
Celebrating new life coming, that's one sure fire way to cheer a girl up. I hosted a baby shower with my good friends Lisa and Kent for our friend Josie from work.
Josie (the momma to "bee") loves butterflies and her new little one's room is going to be lavender with Winnie the Pooh, we ran with the bees and butterflies theme. Tons of food to be had!
Lisa and I made the fruit kabobs and even punched out flower pineapples for the tops of the fruit bouquet.
Pink lemonade and Iced tea
And Josie requested queso and corn dip, some of her pregnancy cravings.
These are the bees we had hanging around
There were 1,213 m&m's in there and I made my sweet husband count every single one.
Each bag had a different baby item in it and you had to feel and guess what the item was. It was harder than it looked. There was pacifiers, baby spoons, rubber ducky, teething toy and wipes.
Thank you gifts, chocolate covered pretzel rods and chocolate suckers.
Cute lanterns over the food.
The banner says "Clara" and I made the tissue paper flowers. These gifts were hostess gifts and from everyone who donated for group gifts from the unit, some other guest brought their own gifts.
Bath goodies!
Welcome wagon full of baby stuff.
Here is the banner closer.
Welcome door banner
The bannister had flowers, butterflies and bees hanging.
More bannister decor.
All in all it was a great day! We can't wait to meet you Clara Sue!!
