It's time for.... FUN FACTS ABOUT LAUREN

alrighty readers (all 3 of you).... It's time for some fun facts about me....
In the spirit of my 25th birthday just passing I have decided to share 25 fun and interesting facts about me in no particular order. I hope some of these none of you know!

1) I have a birthmark about the size of dime on my left bicep....if I ever get kidnapped or diappear and you are looking for me, that's my identifying mark. (grim but true)

2) I am absolutely terrible at math. I may or may not have failed college algebra thrice and only passed when I had a real teacher in summer school at JCCC instead of online classes at Emporia. I still count on my fingers, love a good calculator and can only figure out what 10% of a number is. Taylor has to figure out the tip at a resteraunt, don't ask me to do it and make the total an even number. We would be there for hours. sigh

3) I have wanted to be a nurse since I was tiny. I used to play dress up as a nurse and make my mom lay on the couch and be my patient. I truley decided that over being a veterinarian when I was 13 because my dad told me to have that job I would have to see animals die and help euthanize them. I bawled my eyes out and thus chose nursing. I always knew I wanted to work with babies or kids and mommas but I originally thought I wanted to do Labor & Delivery until I saw my first couple deliveries complete with a botched C-section. NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WOULD I BE AN L&D NURSE. I hated seeing the mommas in pain and say they couldn't do it over and over again, I just wanted it all to be over and them to stop hurting and get to see their babe. I quickly switched focus to kids and love the ICU setting. I decided to do my practicum for my final semester of nursing school in the Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Trauma units at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. I drove 1.5hours from Emporia there and back twice a week for 6 months but got to see some amazing stuff. While I was there I decided that I really just loved the babies and wanted to work Neonatal ICU instead and here I am.

4) I am terrified of water, especially dark or open water. I freak out, like full blown panic attack freak out. I think it is all about not knowing what is beneath me and being afraid I will get pulled under or wont be able to get out of the water. I have only been in a lake once, aweful. And I have been in the ocean up to my mid thigh but it was calm clear still water. I still have never been anywhere where its like pool water to be in the ocean, bright blue crystal clear still water. I want that sooo badly. Just to see it and be able to go in.

5) I am from a blended family. My mom and dad were never married and split before I was born (smart on their part, it would have never worked out). My dad married my stepmom when I was 2 and they had two kids together. Betsy who is 22 and Ben who is 19. My mom married my stepdad when I was 4 and they have a daughter together, Erika who is 20. I am the oddball and floated back and forth between houses and familys my whole life.

6) I have always wanted to be a momma. I love kids and want my own. I am from a big family, both my parents are 1 of 6 kids and I have 30 some cousins on one side. I would love to have 6 kids if we could afford it. I pray for healthy babies in my future on a daily basis. It fascinates me how moms with 4 or more kids make the world keep turning and keep everyone sane. I dream about it often. I would even love to have twins or triplets, maybe even quads but I am not crazy, I would hate what it would do to my body and the high health risks involved.

7) My favorite color is pink, although I am really into Lavender and turquoise lately. Girly girl to the max and if it has glitter or rhinestones or sparkles, I love it! Sorry Taylor

8) I have frequent nose bleeds, sorry TMI but the best part of that story is that when I was 3 I had one at daycare and noone was watching me, I took paper towels out of the dispenser next to the sink and shoved them as far up my nose as I could get them to make my nose stop bleeding. Noone knew until 2 weeks later when I got super sick with horrid sinus infections and my mom took me to the ER and they found them in there lol.

9) I swear when Erika was born we were in the hospital room and I distinctly remember them telling me that this was my new sister and her name was KaKa. That is what she was called for the next year at least.

10) I love fish!! I am fascinated by them, I love to go to aquariums and see all the different kinds and have been to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Tulsa Aquarium, The Mote in Sarasota, Tampa Bay Aquarium and Henry Doorly in Omaha and now the Kansas City Sea Life Aquarium. I have had multiple fish in my lifetime, my first was a red and blue beta that I named Kim when I was 2. I had a bug eyed goldfish live for 3 years named Bing Crosby and most recently had a 10 gallon tank that had multiple fish, shrimp, snails and a crab in it for 3 years in college. I "packed" them all into my Ice tea pitcher and fastened them into the seatbelt through the handle on my front seat and put their empty tank on the floor board of my car and took them to and from Emporia for every break from school for 2 years. UGH!

11)I am a craft and scrapbooking freak! I love anything I can make, I am creative and Pinterest is my new best friend

12) I have never had a cavity, braces, retainer, or anything else done to my teeth besides a cleaning ever. Lucky girl!

13) I used to dance! Still do in my free time when noone is home. I started Ballet when I was 3 and continued taking it until the summer after I graduated high school and even took one class in college for my elective P.E. credit. I also took Jazz and lyrical and Pointe.

14) I hate scary movies, refuse to go to a haunted house and almost cry each time my husband thinks its funny to pop out and scare me from around a corner. Not ok....

15) My closet is color coded as follows, Red, Pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, gray, black on matching white plastic hangers that face the same way. Every shirt has it's front on the right side of the hanger and the items go as follows, Jackets, Sweaters, Dress Pants, Dresses, Tank Tops,. T-shirt (Short-sleeve), T-Shirt (long-sleeve), "dressy" or V-neck or fitted long sleeve shirts, then short sleeve, scrub tops, scrub pants. All organized into those categories first and then color coded from red to black in each category and starting over color wise in the next category. like red to black jackets, red to black sweaters. EMMMBBARASSSING!

16) I used to do hair and makeup for all of my friends and sorority sisters before we would go out at night or before dances and parties and such. Makeup is like painting and I love to paint and hair just seems easy to me. And when I had short hair, I used to cut it myself and add layers and do my bangs ect.

17) I HATE ONIONS!! I don't mind a few if they are thoroughly cooked in something, I love the flavor and French onion is one of my favorite kinds of soup but I just pick out all the onions  and eat the broth.

18) I recently found out that I am allergic to gluten. I can't eat wheat, barley, rye or oats. I sometimes cheat but most always pay the price with a bad stomach ache.

19) I HATE my skin being wet. It drives me up a wall. I have to completely dry my hands after washing them, even between my fingers and blow dryers in bathrooms are my enemy! I get grossed out when people touch me when wet hands or wet towel ect. Mostly because I associate it with sweat or snot or pee or vomit or food and any of those things on my skin is not ok. NASTY, Ugh I wanna gag thinking about it. Some tough nurse I am. Needless to say I can do anything if I have a pair of latex gloves.

20) I can drive a manual transmission car. 2 of the 3 cars I have owned were manual.

21) I love to sleep, I need alot of it and I am good at it, I can lay on a hardwood floor and pass out if need be. I love that I can sleep when I need to but I hate that I need so much of it. I like to be productive and that's hard when I feel like I need to sleep more.

22) I have never had stitches but I have broken my wrist twice.

23) I married my best friend on October 15, 2011. He is my soul mate and can make me laugh at the drop of a hat. He is such a great sweet funny guy and I am a very lucky girl to have him.

24) I am a reality TV junkie. I love any and all reality TV shows, maybe because I am fascinated by people in general. The Kardashians, Khloe and Lamar, Real World, Jersey Shore, Bachelorette/ Bachelor, Swamp people, Duck Dynasty, Pawn Stars, Real Housewives of anywhere but atlanta, Pregnant in Heels, Bethenny Ever after,  you name it, I watch it.

25) I am incredibly blessed, I am surrounded by the most amazing friends, family and coworkers a girl could ask for. The people in my life make it as enjoyable as it is and I have God to thank for that.
