Summer Vacay 2013- Part 5

Our last day :(
On Tuesday Taylor and his dad and uncle and cousin's son went deep sea fishing. They chartered a boat and a captain and went on a 6 hour cruise for red snapper and they caught quite a bit. They each got to keep 2 per legal fishing guidelines but I think they had a blast! Taylor doesn't take pictures and there were 5 boys on the boat so this is all we got to document the memory.

Meanwhile, Shawn (Taylor's mom) and I sat on the beach ALL DAY LONG! It was fantastic. Great people (and stingray and dolphin) watching and had yummy greek salads for lunch and just got to hang out together and talk which is my kind of vacation.
The beach!

We had these great chairs with umbrellas so we could stay out of the sun when we started to get burnt (well when I felt like I was getting burnt. Shawn only tans)

The water wasn't as clear or as calm and pretty as Destin but hey it's a beach, it'll do! Awesome sailboats.

We met up with Taylor's family that night at this awesome hole in the wall place that promised the best fried shrimp in the entire civilized world (as shown by the sign under "Doc's").

Taylor got Royal Reds (i.e. big shrimp with their heads still on). I tried the fried shrimp and it really was incredible.

Our squinty picture.

We got fro-yo after and Taylor got a gummy shark since we were at the beach. Then we went down to the pier and walked around.
Yellow flag means "Be careful in the surf" and purple means "marine pests like stingrays and jellyfish"

Taylor riding the sea turtle sculpture (this is the second sculpture he has riden since we met. NUT)

The beach

Does the sign apply to the pelicans? Because if so, they're a bunch of rule breakers

And while we were there a girl on the pier caught a 6 foot black tip reef shark!

This is him being reeled in, he got off the line however.

One more of the shark,...for fun.

The next morning we were up at 5am, packed our stuff and hit the road. 16 hours in the car! Woo...not!

Mississippi!!

We are trying to be more creative with our pictures at the state signs!

We went through Tupelo, Mississippi and of course we had to stop at the visitor's center there and find a place where we could get Tupelo honey.

Tupelo is where Elvis was born so they had some of his stuff in the visitor center. It was really cool to see up close!

Success! Tupelo honey! It is really really good and I am not a big honey person

Back through Tennessee again, although this time we drove through memphis. We really wanted to stop at Graceland but at this point we just wanted to be home!

We went through Arkansas and I drove that entire stretch (about 4 hours, that was my contribution to the trip) and then back into Missouri.
and I got to have my Braum's fix in Springfield, MO. It was a great way to end the trip.

When we got home (about 8pm) the vet was already closed for the night so we had to wait to pick Cora up in the morning. I picked her up since Taylor had to work and she was so happy she smiled the whole way home from the vet and she basically jumped into Taylor's arms and didn't leave our sides all day. She was velcroed to us.
